For more than a century, Lalemant has been green — not only in colour, but in purpose. From the start, our mission has been to move goods as efficiently and sustainably as possible. Today, that legacy continues through bold actions across our operations, leadership, and partnerships.

Our Sustainability Pillars

1. Efficient, Low-Impact Logistics

• We specialise in complex, multimodal European logistics — barge, road, and sea — with a focus on lowering emissions per ton-mile.
• Our customer portals and real-time tracking systems enhance transparency and help optimise routes for minimal environmental impact.
• We are the transportation architect for waterborne transportation within Urban Waterway Logistics (Home | Urban Waterway Logistics). The concept rolls out city hubs with electrified and semi-autonomous steered pontoons for urban distribution.
• Together with Grimaldi, we are a main use case partner in the HARPOONERS-HORIZON (Partners | Harpooners) project from the European community dedicated to developing next-generation battery technology for maritime and inland waterborne transport.
• We have monitoring equipment on board of our vessels to track and report emission statuses (COGNAUSHIP – powering up performance)
• Within the operational and budgetary framework of our chartering customers, we always seek the most suitable and environmentally friendly vessel.

2. Electric Mobility Commitment

• Expanding the use of electric and hybrid vehicles.
• Supporting responsible mobility with home charging, solar-powered company cars, eco-driving, and bike couriers for document delivery.

3. Carbon Footprint & Resource Efficiency

• Partnering with Sweco and Engeon to analyse Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
• Reduced Scope 1 and 2 emissions in 2022 by moving to a greener HQ and implementing sustainable office policies.
• Prioritising durable equipment, optimising energy use, and reducing travel impacts.
• Investing in digitalisation and paperless operations.
• Guided by these insights, we are aligned with the VOKA Charter for Sustainable Entrepreneurship.
